Privity v1.2 Release Notes: Better Functionality and Data Handling Are Here

Privity v1.2 was released early this morning, providing a bevy of bug fixes and some additional features for the app. You may have experienced some access limitations this work as we performed some server tweaking in expectation of the new release. Thank you for bearing with us as we readied the system for a new backend. Check out the full list of bugs and new features below: New Functions: Search Filtering – You will now notice additional options when performing a search for text. Now, users can select from Exact, Fuzzy, Starts With, Contains, or Proximity search. Email Uploading Options – The original application automatically stripped email attachments from emails and added them to your library. With this update, users will be able to select whether they want attachments stripped or not by selecting a checkbox in the Upload panel. Custom Fields Across All Projects/Folders – Now, when you add a custom field to any folder in your Case, you will see the custom field appear in the Select Fields dropdown. Previously, you would only see it appear if the custom field was populated for that particular folder. Backend Process Management – Privity has a new backend that allows it to better manage bulk loading of data. Now, files are  managed in line with the system’s performance capabilities and closes files when processing is finished to improve system load. Expect much safer and faster performance. Bug Fixes: Maintaining Filenames – All files will download with their original filename. Fixes “undefined” filenames that were appearing. Custom Field Editing – Users can now edit their custom field information from the Grid and be...

The Dangers of Waiting Too Long and The Rewards of Reacting Quickly

Negotiating the risk of an end-game is tough. No claim professional can ever be sure whether their principal can make it. We want them to make it; it saves us time and money. But we can never be sure. The risk is always high when you have a principal in financial trouble. We always say that a wound is worth bandaging. No reason to let it fester. And therein lays the beauty of surety books & records clauses. These clauses entitle you to walk into your principal’s office and collect crucial data. That data can be used for your internal review of their business (to be sure they are being a good principal) or simply to provide assurance that you have it, when and if the boat sinks. The dangers of waiting too long include the obvious loss of data. This is the digital world – it disappears fast. Whether the custodians wipe it or a secured financier takes possession of technology, it may be gone forever. But the dangers also include the not-so-obvious loss of leverage. When a principal is in trouble, they need a surety’s help. This is a good time to friendly leverage a books & records clause to gain access for comfort. The rewards of reacting quickly includes getting data and having leverage, but also the potential benefit of saving a lot of money. Data recovery from deleted sources is expensive. Formal discovery in a later legal proceeding is even more expensive. Books & records are easy to clone when they are active and in use. Reacting early is the key. And it costs you next to...

How We Made Privity Even Better in v1.1

ClaimKit launched Privity two weeks ago. There was no party, no promotional pack, no advertising blast. We simply laid out our year-long endeavor in a quick email to our trusted users. But we cheated you all. We failed to tell you why Privity was a substantial improvement on our past application. Privity was built with team work in mind. Claims are best resolved by the tandem, a team of professionals who each share their own skill. But never before has the team been able to share their skills in a real-time environment, without being in a meeting room together. Version 1.1 was released today. Here is what we focused on to make this a reality: Real-Time Communication Our new message center allows users to communicate throughout the workday, sharing comments about documents, assigning tasks or requesting assistance from their team members. The Message Center stores sent messages, notifies you when you have new messages and allows you to send a message to anyone from anywhere in the system (just look for the little envelope in the upper right corner). More importantly, the Message Center gives you real-time access to our support team. Simply send a message to Privity Support and we will respond back to your Message Center. Easy stuff. Keep Track with Notifications Privity includes an Activity Log that allows users to keep track of what is going on in their Case. Some users may have used this in the past, but we put some new bells and whistles on it to allow you to track more activities, such as document uploads, document downloads and the addition of...

Meet Privity: Your Trusted Claim Companion is Here

Well, it took us a full year to make it. But it sure is pretty. The “ClaimKit 2.0 beta project” officially has a name and has been released much to the delight of old and new users. ClaimKit’s new Cadillac of claim data and communication management is aptly named, Privity. Privity is a new way of thinking about working on claims. After 4 years of close work with our claim pals, we realized that a premium is put on the claim team as a whole – not any of its single members. Privity fosters the close knit relationship of claim team members by giving them a secure tunnel for sharing information and their comments. So a year ago we set out to make an application for each of our users. Privity provides tools that every surety, insurer, consultant, forensic accountant, attorney and contractor can agree upon. The application puts a new emphasis on the ease of sharing information, by allowing users to communicate within it, through messaging and discussions. Privity also improves data review by adding metadata viewing, sorting, and isolation. Our new search powers reach far beyond the capabilities of DocKit, with advanced search options and targeting. And now you can upload your desktop folder organization – or that of your principal – with a simple drop on the screen tool. When you navigate to ClaimKit.com from now on, you will see the Privity Login option in the upper right hand corner. Never fear, this gets you to your cases and data. You can also continue to access the application at https://app.claimkit.com. Your friendly support team of Doug and Tyler are still here to shepherd...

The Workflow You Deserve

I have been spending a lot of time with claims people lately. I mean all over the spectrum: surety guys, consultant gals, legal geniuses, you name it. Everyone battles with the pain of changing their modus operandi. After all, it takes a long time to find a comfortable way to effectively work each and every day. But hey, honestly, lets get real. How many of us are actually confident that we have the best method? I have a “default desktop” that drives my work comfort. Check it out to the left. If I have all these machines in place, my water and my tea/coffee (depending on my health level) – I’m ok. But does it really make me work any better? Doubtful. I could completely reorganize without a single effect on my productivity. The reality is that the setup means little. The tools mean a lot. And if the tools are easy to use, then they mean even more. The easier to use, the more I use. The more I use, the better I am at my job. I know my desktop can improve. But I don’t need to change that minor detail. Taking the time to find the tools that make me better at working at tasks and with my teammates – that is where I must focus. Each and every day new tools hit the market. Some free, some with a cost, but all with a purpose to improve your workflow. It behooves you to continue to give them a try, regardless if it removes you from that modus operandi. For one of these tools just might make your work life...
